Players select a dinosaur species and begin as a hatchling on a large island map filled with varied terrain. They track down food sources, manage thirst and injury, and interact with other players while progressing through growth stages to reach adult size. Encounters with rival dinosaurs determine whether the session ends in a hunt or an escape.
