What skills are super in demand right now but really hard to find?
A few favourites from the original thread:
• There's a constant shortage of medical pros, partly because they get treated so badly that many leave the field.
• Air traffic control and pilot roles are struggling too—the training is brutal, and the retirement age scares off career changers.

I think healthcare is a big one. My neighbor was a nurse for years and just quit last year. She said the pay was fine but the way people treated her during and after the pandemic was just too much. Like she'd get yelled at for stuff that wasn't her fault all the time.

A friend of mine was an EMT for about a decade. She loved helping people but after the pandemic she said the system just grinds you down. You get these big speeches about being a hero but then they schedule you for double the patients you're supposed to have and expect you to just deal with it. She ended up leaving for a desk job and says she's way happier now even though she misses the actual work. It's such a shame because we really need people like her but I get why they leave.

I've heard air traffic control is super hard to get into. Like you need to pass all these tests and the training takes forever. And then you have to retire early anyway so it's not a great option if you're older and looking for a career change. My cousin looked into it but decided it wasn't worth the stress.

My mom was a nurse for like 20 years and she's always telling me stories about how understaffed they are. She said after Covid they just couldn't keep people because everyone was burned out. And it's not just the patients, it's the administration too. They'd say 'you're heroes' but then cut their hours or something.
