What drink tastes awful but people still sip it anyway? 🍵

A few favourites from the original thread:
• One person swore matcha is overrated, even after trying it from a tea ceremony master trained by the same folks who teach the imperial palace—still tasted like lawn trimmings to them. Someone else chimed in, 'What if someone actually likes the taste of grass?'
• Another thread had people arguing over V8 juice, with one saying 'I don't know who's keeping V8 in business, but y'all need to stop,' while another proudly declared their love for it.

Matcha is definitely one of those things where I keep thinking 'this time it'll be different' and then I'm just chewing on grass clippings again. My friend tried to convert me with some fancy ceremony stuff and I still couldn't get past it. I'll take my iced coffee over that any day lol.

V8 is the one for me. I see people chugging it like it's a treat and I just don't get it. I tried it once thinking it'd be like tomato juice but no, it's just weirdly thick and tastes like a garden that got left in the sun too long. I'd rather just eat actual vegetables.

There's this Turkish drink called şalgam that my friend introduced me to, it's made from fermented purple carrots and has this really strong, earthy, slightly spicy taste. The first time I tried it I honestly thought something was wrong with it, but apparently it's a love-it-or-hate-it thing even in Turkey. It's supposed to be really good for digestion and stuff though, so people drink it more for the health benefits than the flavor I think. I've seen people mix it with rakı or just sip it straight with meals, and I respect the commitment even if I can't get on board with the taste. It's fascinating how some drinks just become a cultural staple despite being objectively kind of intense. My friend says it's an acquired taste and I'm still trying to acquire it, but it's a slow process. 😅
